  It’s only apt to warn you now itself that this review will be massive (in terms of quantity of words). I want to start off this review by taking a step back and mentioning that even before the assistant at the steps of cinemas could tear off my ticket stub allowing me admission into the cinema hall, I knew I would walk out with a satisfied experience once the movie was over.

  Where do I start? Bhaag Milkha Bhaag is disgusting. Kirby Dick's film, This Film Is Not Yet Rated is about how whimsical and ridiculous the MPAA is. The Indian Censor Board is - no surprises here - worse; it is stupid beyond measure. Bhaag Milkha Bhaag is full of graphic violence: gunshots to the head, people on horses massacring an entire village with their swords and guns, heaps of dead people…

• Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's very flattering biopic on Milkha Singh's life reminds you of 2012's Paan Singh Tomar. A jawan signs up for running in the Army for the sake of more food. He then becomes a successful sprinter and tours foreign countries where he hooks up with an angreza.
  Of course silly similarities aside, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag is very different from the gritty, earthy and incredibly exciting Paan Singh Tomar. Also, unfortunately, it's much longer.

  Renowned athlete Milkha Singh is haunted by the ghosts of his past, owing to the treasure trove of horrors for Indian Cinema; the Partition. And though you are regularly teased by its hilariously obvious insinuations, Mehra doesn't tell. Instead he saves the big, emotionally crippling…

• Terrible film. The film is about the wounds a young Milkha Singh has had in his heart as a child. During partition, his parents were killed in a Sikh village in Pakistan.

  However, instead of primarily focusing on this aspect, they explore his career and love life in depth. Another issue is the terrible editing and melodrama. Milkha Singh trains so hard that his sweat fills buckets.

  This is a long, bad ride which should be avoided at all costs.

• Rakeysh Mehra, one of the finest filmmakers in India masters the art of touching the nationalistic side of the audience in directing this epic biopic.
  Farhan Akhtar has outdone himself, however his fluency in punjabi was not as proficient than that of his sikh compatriates/child character of milkha singh in the movie.
  After watching the movie, one might say that Farhan Akhtar would be in the driving seat but however, it wouldn't have been possible without the following four wheels
  Divya Dutta who makes sure the audience is connected with their emotional side.
  Prakash Raj who provides the much needed comic relief.
  And, the rear wheels Pawan Malhotra & Yograj Singh who provide that extra push and keep you uplifted and…

• A nice movie.
  My only complaint is that they have added a little bit too much spice to the film's story to make it more 'commercial'. This was confirmed when I read his autobiography.
  The songs are quite in sync with the point of the story they show at the time.

• This film is amazing. A prime example of how impactful Indian films are.

• Interesting story, definitely more than your typical sports drama (which I was expecting). The last R.O. Mehra movie I saw was Delhi-6 like 10 years ago and it's really great seeing his direction evolve from then. Some super hard-hitting scenes, and a good performance by Farhan, that were lessened by a lengthy middle that makes you loose the momentum. Definitely could have used some cuts. Still a good movie !
