Bone Thugs N Harmony Crossroads
If you’re from the Midwest then you know just how many different genres of music come your way. If you’re specifically from Cleveland, Ohio, then you understand how all those styles left you feeling like, musically, you had to search for your own sound. With the 216 mostly known for its crooners (Gerald Levert, The Rude Boys, Men at Large) — it was hip-hop that permeated the streets from E. 99th and St. Clair down to the historic Gateway District. In the early 1990s, five high school dropouts would form a collective unit that would redefine how flow was used in the game, plus make them multi-platinum and Grammy award winning stars.
This group, formerly known as B.O.N.E. Enterpri$e, would go on to become known around the world as Bone Thugs-n-Harmony.
Generally regarded as the creators of the Flow Motion (or Chopping), BTNH shot their way into the hearts + minds of the people with their rapid-fire, melodic mesh of harmonizing hip-hop vocals. The group, which at the time consisted of Flesh-N-Bone, Layzie Bone, Wish Bone, Krayzie Bone and Bizzy Bone, had caused quite a ruckus in the industry after signing to Eazy E‘s Ruthless Records label after taking a one-way bus trip to Compton. Their first album, Creepin’ on ah Come Up, powered by the smash singles “Thuggish Ruggish Bone” and “Foe tha Love of $,” which featured Eazy E, placed at no. 2 on Billboard‘s Top Hip-Hop Albums chart.
Through all the accolades, the awards and the chart-topping success, one song remains clear and cut above the rest. “Tha Crossroads,” a tribute track to then-recently deceased Eazy-E, was featured on BTNH’s second album E. 1999 Eternal and would go on to captivate the world. Krayzie Bone, one of the founding members of the group, was able to sit down with us to provide context about the heart-wrenching song, “Tha Crossroads” in this installment of The Secret History of Bone Thugs-n-Harmony’s ‘Tha Crossroads‘.

my favorite song on God
Honestly, Babyface and Braxton give us a glimpsing reminder of what high-quality R&B radio used to offer its listeners. Even when the two are hitting the 'divorce' part of the record, it never sounds like a downer. Love marriage divorce album. It's two pros rekindling the pop magic.
